🔵 Kinship Care Program FAQs

  1. What services are available through the Kinship Care program?
    FEC offers case management, permanency planning, support groups, counseling, training, legal support, respite care, and referrals to community services.

  2. Can I receive services if the parent of the child in my care has abandoned them?
    Yes. FEC case managers will help guide you through the child welfare and legal systems.

  3. Do I need to be a formal caregiver to join a support group?
    No. The six support groups are open to any relative or fictive kin caring for a child, regardless of formal custody status.


🟣 Autism Is Real (A.I.R.) Program FAQs

  1. Does my child need an ASD diagnosis to receive services?
    No, an official diagnosis is not required. The program uses early screenings to determine support needs.

  2. What ages does the program serve?
    Pre-schoolers (34 months–5 years) and school-aged children (Kindergarten–4th grade).

  3. Do I have to participate in all services?
    Participation is voluntary, but full involvement is encouraged to maximize your child’s success.

  4. How long will services last?
    A minimum of 9 weeks, with the possibility for extension based on the child’s progress and need.

  5. How much do services cost?
    All services are provided free of charge through funding from the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County.

  6. How do I sign up?
    Families can self-refer or be referred by professionals. You can call, email, or complete a referral form on the FEC website.

  1. What is Motivated Minds?
    It’s a mentorship and empowerment initiative designed to support youth through academic enrichment, life skills development, and positive community engagement.

  2. Who can participate?
    The program targets school-aged youth and young adults seeking guidance, structure, and opportunity.

  3. What kinds of activities or sessions are included?
    Workshops on goal setting, financial literacy, job readiness, communication skills, and leadership development.

  4. Is there a cost to participate?
    No. Motivated Minds is funded through grants and community partnerships.
