Grandparent Assistance Program

"GAP"

The Grandparent Assistance Program provides a vital service for grandparents and relative caregivers who are raising children in today's difficult and challenging environment. The Grandparent Assistance Program is designed to assist grandparents and other relative caregivers in caring for children under the age of 18. The goal is to help strengthen and promote stability for families with the access of our services and support.

Grandparent Support Group

The program includes a Grandparent Support Group. The group gives grandparents the opportunities to learn new parenting skills, share their joys and challenges of parenting experiences and to make new friends. Through the support group, grandparents gain strength from one another as they realize they are not alone.

Respite

The Saturday Respite program gives a much – needed break to grandparents for whom personal time is a rare commodity. The Saturday Respite program provides recreational activities for children, which include field trips, arts and crafts, outdoor recreation, and just plain fun.

Children Enrichment Activities

The children's enrichment activities provide stimulating recreational and cultural experiences for children. Activities include teen mentoring programs for boys & girls, self-improvement workshops, recreational activities and cultural outings to museums, theaters and cultural festivities.

Other Supports

  • Family counseling
  • Servicing information and referrals
  • Permanency planning and adoption assistance
