Foster Care and Adoption

The cornerstone of the Family Enrichment Center is its foster care and adoption programs.

Foster care is a program that provides temporary homes for children who cannot live with their families for various reasons. Children who are placed in foster care are from families that are facing overwhelming problems. The dysfunction of these families cannot provide the stability and nurturance a child needs. The goal of foster care is to help families in trouble. Foster care provides a safe and stable environment for the child while the troubled family receives help.

The need for foster and adoptive families is ever increasing. If you have a little extra room in your home and a lot of room in your heart, consider changing a life through foster care or adoption.

You can be a foster or adoptive parent if you:

  • Are married or single
  • Own or rent your home
  • Live in a house or apartment
  • Work, retired or receive supplemental income
  • Have no criminal or child abuse history
  • Have sufficient income to meet your family's needs
  • Have additional space in your home
  • Have fewer than five minor children in your home
  • Have an abundance of love and patience
  • Have a desire to help children.

The Family Enrichment Center offers:

  • Short, flexible training schedules
  • Easily accessible training facility
  • Post placement support and in-service training
  • Respite with other FEC licensed families
  • Foster parent support group
